This goal of this photo project was to capture the wonderful mess of indulgence that isn't involved in the portrayal of women eating. While researching for this project, my collaborator Yelli Lewin and I found that existing imagery of women eating is usually comprised of a sullen expression while looking at indulgent food, or an overly excited thin woman eating lettuce.
We took these shoots as opportunities for our models to tell us their body stories, and each model expressed that this experience was cathartic and vulnerable, and ultimately made them feel empowered in their bodies.
